With the heavy rain and strong storms moving in over the past few weeks our planning sometimes doesn't line up 100%. However, the diversity of the farm means that something is thriving while other things do not go as planned. We are lucky that the farm has sustained no real damage and quickly can absorb all the water that is dumbed down with minimal erosion. There will be no pick your own this week! Our Cherry Tomatoes are a week behind which puts us off one week. However we are lucky our greenhouse tomatoes are really putting on a show and we are really excited to have slicing tomatoes in the share this week.
There will also be the last of our cabbage in the share this week before we start planting for the fall. Some are small cabbage heads and other are 'cabbage babies'. Once we cut the cabbage we allow for regrowth of the cabbage which produces our 'cabbage babies'. Use these as you would full size cabbage or almost like a large brussels sprout!
In this week 8 summer share:
- Slicing Tomatoes
- Beets Or Carrots
- Summer Squash
Our Blueberry patch will be open for CSA members who wish to pick a pint to purchase in the farm store.
See you at the farm.
