Summer CSA Week 15

Hi all! Reminder Wednesday pick up is Monday!

Also next Friday, September 20th is our CSA potluck. We will send out another email with more information.

In the share this week is purslane, a wild friend which often is overlooked. I was once at a farmers conference and a grower was talking about listening to what our land says our community needs. If our land is supplying us with an abundance of something-- it is the food that our community is in need of. Now this may sound a bit silly, as purslane is often regarded as a weed. But purslane contains a high amount of omega 3 fatty acids, a-linolenic acid, and vitamin A. The flavor of purslane is slightly lemony and has a succulent texture which adds a nice crunch to whatever you are eating.

In the Share this week:

-Dry Tropea Onion- short storage onion so can hold for a month or so.

-Arugula

-Radish OR Turnip (members choice)

-Shoot (Pea or sunflower) great addition to sandwiches!

-Purslane Recipe here

-Slicing Tomatoes

-Watermelon :)
