Spring CSA Week 3, 2019

Spring CSA – Week 3

Ramp season is ramping up! Food writer Josh Ozersky put it best when he said,"The Church of the Ramp is one of the fastest-growing denominations in the religion of seasonality."
Prized for their mild, garlicky flavor, they also have a very short season and have acquired food-world celebrity status (as far as produce is concerned). Ramps  can be cooked simply in oil or paired with eggs, these greens make great sauces, pesto or pizza toppings.

In this week's share:

·       Ramps

·       Turnip

·       Scallion

·       Broccoli Rabe

·       Beet Greens- use as you would swiss chard. If going into a salad massage beet greens like you would kale.

·       Bloody Mary Mix

*       Extra- More kale flowers! Edible or for decoration

By the way, we think Bloody Marys are a perfect cocktail since it’s totally acceptable to sip one or two before noon on Sunday, and just think of the powerhouse of vitamins you’re getting in each fortified sip!

What’s Happening on the Farm?

Just in time for Mother’s Day, seasonal floral arrangements will be in the Farm Store on Fridays and Saturdays during the growing season (separate from the Flower CSA shares which begin in June).
