Yesterday when I saw today’s high I started a late afternoon harvest for our CSA. This morning around 10 I wished I had harvested everything for the CSA today. Being the first really cold day of this fall I have not quite adjusted my body to the cooler weather nor my proper layers put on this morning. My mind somehow let me erase what it meant when the high was 32 degrees today on a harvest day. The wind comes right up the hill and its hard to hide from the cold.Row cover keeps many of our plants cozy and slightly warmer then the outside air; but harvest is still slow, cold and wet. Now in my cozy wool sweater and socks, I’m feeling much warmer. This afternoon as the temperature drops further it looks like we will be pulling out more row cover to bundle up and working against the sun.
