Dina Brewster became a farmer ten years ago after teaching, first in the Philippines as a Peace Corps volunteer and then in the Bronx as a high school English teacher. She founded The Hickories as a one acre vegetable garden and has overseen the development of new products and new acreage as the farm business has grown. Committed to connecting people with working land, Dina chose to return to her family's farm in Ridgefield and start the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program, one that still exists as the backbone of the farm's business plan.
Laura Mulligan is our Livestock and Floral farmer. She came to The Hickories as in intern in 2013 and found her calling. She devotes herself to promoting local agriculture -- anything that celebrates farming.
Nick DeBrock is currently trying his hand at small local farming after earning a bachelor's in Crop Science at University of Illinois. While trying to find a career in commercial agriculture, he took a chance at an internship with The Hickories. He quickly fell in love with the work, lifestyle, and mission of The Hickories and looks forward to the season ahead.
