Winter CSA Week 6

Dear Winter CSAers

Last week I was emailing you all about cancelled weekly pickup because of a high of 9 degrees, today we are hitting 57 degrees. I can not explain it, the damage was done. The surge of heat did bring a spinach and lettuce harvest along with being able to tap into the ground for one last go at the carrots. The carrots have a lasting mark of the bitter cold, their exterior skin lacerated by frozen sharp soil. They have not lost thier taste but they may have lost their shelf life. The spinach and lettuce sprang back up for one last harvest.  I cant exactly quantify how appreciative I am of everyone that participated in this winter share. You have given me the opportunity to grow and learn as a farmer during a unique growing season, that a lot of young farmers do not get the opportunity to do. I will be in the store trying to see everyone  for the last share, but if I dont, thank you and hopefully see you when its supposed to be warm!

This weeks mega share:
