Your shares are in, right under the wire. Between sorting dry beans and digging sunchokes, this has been a labor intensive harvest. But dinner tonight will be worth it - roasted brussels sprouts and sunchokes, slathered with olive oil and salt and then sprinkled with fresh scallions.
Please note, your final Thanksgiving CSA share will be available for pickup next Tuesday, 2pm-6pm.
In this week's share:
- brussels sprouts
- black beans
- sunchokes (also called jerusalem artichokes)
- chive blossom vinegar
Chive blossom vinegar is great stuff. We make it by smooting the flowers of our chives into vinegar to give it a delightful color and heavenly allium flavor. Use it to brighten any recipe that calls for vinegar, or mix is with into your favorite vinaigrette. For a luxurious holiday treat, I float a few Connecticut oysters in the half shell with the chive vinegar.
There are still Thanksgiving turkeys available for CSA members, so please place your order online as soon as possible by clicking the link below.
I will write a letter about Sheep Stroll tickets next week, but mark your calendars for December 3rd, 4pm-6pm - it is the official opening of our holiday store and it's a memorable night for the whole family. Tickets will go on sale after Thanksgiving.
All the best,
