Wilson took this photo during an early morning field walk. We farmers at The Hickories are in love with our crops - we talk to our plants, we capture their portraits, we spend an overly abundant amount of time detailing our dinners during morning staff meetings. The old adage that 'if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life' may be a stretch - but you get the idea. (The translucence of kale at dawn is one thing, cleaning out a chicken coop or picking your 300th pound of snap beans is quite another.) I may rail all I want against cell phones, but I just love seeing our farm through the eyes of other people, and now that everyone has a camera in his or her pocket, one can capture some really lovely moments .
In this week's share:
- snow peas
- green tomatoes
Don't forget to bring family and friends this weekend for a hayride and pumpkin picking. It is shaping up to be a glorious weekend.
All the best,
