Spring CSA share pickup starts this Friday, April 28th. We are thrilled to see the farm fill up again with members! Feeding our community is what makes all the hard work come alive for us!
Here is how it works:
- Come to The Hickories every Friday anytime between 2pm-7pm. - 136 Lounsbury Road, Ridgefield CT. The Spring share will run for 5 weeks.
- The CSA pickup has moved to our Farm Store this season. You will see a designated set of shelves with your share on them. Please check off your name on the list on the wall. If you still need to bring a check, then please bring it with you (payable to The Hickories.)
- Feel free to stay and meet other CSAers, talk with your farmers, etc. - the farm is usually open for walkers during CSA hours, but this week, the muddy roads and tractor bustle in the fields will likely keep our field gates shut. So plan on your walk for a drier week once we are out of mud season.
You can expect an email midday on Friday listing what is in your share and reminding you to come to pickup. As always, we can not hold shares for pickups on other days. If you can not make it on Friday, please send someone in your place with the instructions to check your name off and collect your share.
There will be some familiar faces here from last year, Farmers Laura, Nick, Wilson, and Alex in addition to myself (now 9 months pregnant, so hopefully most of you will still recognize me.) I am looking forward to have you meet Kate, the newest addition to our team. I will take a short time off my farming duties for part of the late Spring/early Summer with a new baby, but you will likely still see me hovering around the place.
As an added bonus we are racing to prep our organic seedlings for pre-sale to CSA members during your pickup on Friday. They will go on sale to the general public over the weekend, but we wanted to make sure you had first dibs, so if you are looking for a starter plant or two or some other goodies for your garden, come with your lists in hand. We are just putting out the cold tolerant crops now and we will bring out the tomatoes and cucumbers once the soil temperatures warm up.
See you Friday.
