USDA certified organic seedlings - grown here at The Hickories, are ready to head into your gardens. Give your gardens a great start by using the local, organic, farm-raised plants to get a jump on the season.
The weather is still chilly, and the fear of a final frost still looming - so we are going to begin by just putting out cold tolerant seedlings in early May (lettuces, mache, kale, broccoli, etc.). Once danger of frost has past, and the soil temperatures have warmed up a bit, plan on seeing the warm weather crops come in (tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, etc.) Plan on growing with us throughout the summer. Think about succession (planting lettuce once a month) in your garden. And as always, we farmers here at The Hickories are always eager to discuss variety selections and organic gardening with anyone and everyone who will listen - so don't hesitate to ask a farmer.
We will put seedlings outside the Farm Store as they come ready. Plan on visiting often throughout the season.
